“Escaping Virtual Reality” - 16 x 20 inches, Pencil - 9H tthrough 6B - >-©2018 All Rights Reserved
Above is a pencil drawing of a moth that I took a picture of when I was in New Mexico. The bottom half of the drawing is “pixelated” depicting of how “virtual reality” and “reality” are blending into our perceived daily “reality”. The question now is: “Is what we see on the internet, is it real or created by algorithms?”
Below is a close-up of the above artwork, showing the detail of the drawing techniques.
When I taught art, students would often leave the sink dirty with left over tempera paint. I would place large sheets of paper on top and would pull a “print” of the paint. After it dried, I would view it and could see various images which I then would enhance using pastels.
